Through a unique partnership with Yanshan University, located in Qinhuangdao, China, The University of Toledo is hosting beginner and intermediate Chinese language courses taught by master teachers from Yanshan University. These classes will be offered fall semester at UT, beginning the week of August 20, 2007.
These courses are beneficial for you for a number of reasons:
The classes are held two nights a week after work hours and on Saturday mornings, meaning the courses will fit conveniently into your busy schedule;
The classes integrate more than just language — instructors will teach students about Chinese culture, history, business and etiquette;
The teachers are experts in their fields. One is head of the department of language at Yanshan University, and the other is head of Yanshan's intercultural institute. Both have the highest certificates of competence/licensure by the Chinese government — more significant than Ohio Department of Education licensure.
The material is covered in 10 weeks, quickly enough to immerse students in language while giving them a comprehensive overview of Chinese culture.
You will leave these classes with increased language skills and the ability to comfortably communicate in the global economy. This will put you ahead in the Chinese marketplace and help your firm stand out as a leader in intercultural business.
These courses are non-credit courses. If you are interested in learning Chinese and earning college credit, please contact the foreign language department at The University of Toledo.
We look forward to having you as students this fall. For more information about the courses, please visit www.utoledo.edu/offices/ogi or contact us at 419.530.7750.
