    Patricia Devlin is an Assistant Professor in Special Education of the Judith Herb College of Education at The University of Toledo. Dr. Devlin was awarded a grant from the Ability of Greater Toledo to establish Project SCOUT as a comprehensive approach to employment, job retention, and career advancement for individuals with disabilities. Dr. Devlin has conducted various investigative studies related to Project SCOUT. Her most recent research includes:

    • Coworker perception - Longitudinal study to evaluate the level of contact, social integration, perception and attitudes of non-disabled employees toward persons with disabilities.
    • Enhancing Job Performance – Experimental study examining the effects of a specific curriculum (Self-Determined Career Development Model – SDCDM) on the job performance of current employees with disabilities hired under Project SCOUT.

    Project SCOUT
    The University of Toledo

    Tony Urbina is a graduate of Bowling Green State University, majoring in Secondary Education and is completing graduate work at The University of Toledo in Special Education.

    Tony has spent more than three years as a Special Education Coordinator in the K-12 educational setting and is experienced in developing career curriculum to assist students with disabilities transition from high school to post-secondary options. He has a passion to help individuals with disabilities discover their purpose through full-time competitive employment.   

    Along with Tony’s experience as Special Education Coordinator, he has over seven years of business experience as operations manager in local industry.

    Sheila Dolesthe graduate assistant for the UT Commission on Diversity and is the web developer for the commission website and various other UT and community websites, including the Project SCOUT website.

    Sheila has expertise in the field of professional writing, development of business planning strategies and promotional marketing. She assists Project SCOUT in gaining exposure on the campus of The University of Toledo through independent study coursework programming.

    Job Coach
    Lucas County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities

    Bonnie has over 25 years of job coaching experience working with individuals with disabilities. She provides job coaching for Project SCOUT to assist employees as they learn and adjust to new job environments, responsibilities and tasks and also provides follow-up as needed to assist in job satisfaction on behalf of the employee and employer. 

    Bonnie conducts job site analysis, task analysis and/or evaluation of job performance as part of her assessment to ensure success of the customized job match, making modifications as necessary to achieve a high quality work environment.

    Job Coach
    Lucas County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities

    Kimli is a vocational specialist employed through Lucas County Board of MR/DD. She has over 20 years experience working with individuals with disabilities and job development. Kimli provides follow-up for employees hired through Project SCOUT focusing on job retention. 

    When needed, Kimli also provides individualized job coaching to assist employees with changing job tasks. Kimli conducts job site analysis, task analysis and/or evaluation of job performance as part of her assessment to ensure success of the customized job match, making modifications as necessary to achieve a high quality work environment
