The Governor of Ohio appointed Thomas E. Brady to the Medical University of Ohio Board of Trustees in 2005. He is currently Chair of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee and is a member of the External Affairs Committee.
Dr. Brady is president, CEO and founder of Plastic Technologies, Inc. (PTI) and oversees the operations of seven other PTI companies and joint ventures including Phoenix Technologies, Preform Technologies, PTI-Europe, PTI Investment Associates, PETWall, Minus-9 Plastics, and The Packaging Conference, which organizes international conferences for the packaging industry. Prior to founding PTI, Dr. Brady was Vice President of Plastics Technology for Owens-Illinois, Inc. where he directed the technical activities for all of O-I's plastic product lines.
Dr. Brady sits on the Governor's Third Frontier Advisory Board and boards of the Regional Growth Partnership, the Toledo School for the Arts, the Toledo Symphony and SSOE. Past boards he has served include the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, the Toledo Area Small Business Association and the Toledo Technology Academy.
Dr. Brady received BS and MS degrees in Engineering Science from Dartmouth College and earned his Ph.D. in Plastic Materials Engineering from the University of Michigan. He was recognized as Entrepreneur of the Year in 1989, as Manager of the Year in 1996, and he and his wife, Betsy, were recognized jointly as Philanthropists of the Year in 2006.
