William Koester was appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2004. Mr. Koester is founder and retired CEO of Koester Corporation, a professional engineering and industrial automation manufacturer. He continues to serve industrial clients as a professional electrical engineer and business consultant.
Presently, Mr. Koester is Co-Chair of the UT Board of Trustees Clinical Affairs Committee and a member of the Finance Committee.
A 1960 UT graduate with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, he is a licensed professional engineer registered in Ohio and five other states. In 1997, he was honored by UT's College of Engineering as one of its distinguished alumni and this year will be honored with the UT Alumni Association's Gold T Award as 2008 Alumni of the Year.
His memberships include the national, state and local Societies of Professional Engineers, the American Foundry Society, the Association of Energy Engineers, the Defiance Area Foundation where he serves as treasurer, Rotary International, and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Defiance.
He has previously served as a trustee and board chair of the Defiance Hospital, a member of the Defiance College Board of Trustees, former advisory board member and vice chair of UT's Center for Family Business, the former chair of the Defiance City Utilities Study Committee, former member and chair of St. Mary's Defiance School Board, founding member of the Defiance City School's Foundation, and founding member of the Defiance City Schools academic boosters.
A native of Toledo, Mr. Koester has worked and lived in Defiance, Ohio since 1961. He has been married to his wife, Carol, for 46+ years. They have four children and 11 grandchildren. |
