Hernan A. Vasquez, a 1969 graduate of The University of Toledo College of Engineering and a founder and president of the industrial heating, ventilation and air conditioning company Mandell Vasquez Inc. in Toledo, was named to the UT board of trustees to take the seat of former trustee Jack Sizemore, whose nine-year term expired in June 1999.
Vasquez is involved in minority business development, especially in Hispanic business and community issues. He serves on the Mayor's Hispanic Advisory Commission and also on the City Regulatory Study Commission. He also serves the community through social service activities, including Central City Ministries, a volunteer organization composed of 10 inner-city churches and six parochial schools, where he serves as church representative and on the executive board.
Through his company, he volunteers for social and community improvements such as the Perrysburg Heights Community Association. He often delivers speeches to high school and college students about the importance of staying in school and the benefits of lifelong education.
