About the College of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences
Dean's Welcome
Greetings from the Dean
Welcome to the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences,
a premier institution of pharmaceutical education and research. The role of the pharmacist
in today’s society includes not only dispensing medications, but also managing medication
therapy and serving on medical teams, critical roles in modern health care. At The
University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, a practitioner’s
school, students are prepared for success in pharmacy, the pharmaceutical sciences,
and pharmacy management. These growing fields are in demand, and our graduates transition
successfully into careers throughout the pharmaceutical and patient care industries.
The philosopher Aristotle stated, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” At The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, we cultivate a habit of excellence among our faculty, staff and students. Students admitted to the upper division are retained and graduate at a rate of over 90%, and PharmD graduates pass the state licensure exam at a rate of 95% on the first attempt. The college offers residency and training in critical care and infectious diseases in collaboration with health care institutions and under the guidance of some of America’s most skilled, board-certified faculty and clinicians.
Over the past eight years, enrollment in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has nearly doubled. Scholarship programs have grown significantly and include books for first-year professional students and support for the Professional Compounding Centers of America Boot Camp and diagnostic licensure examination. The college is thrilled about its recent expansion that includes a new state-of-the-art facility, the Frederic and Mary Wolfe Center, on The University of Toledo’s Health Science Campus. This expansion provides even more opportunities for research and collaboration in a community known for multidisciplinary and experiential learning.
I welcome you to explore the College's programs and learning opportunities, and I invite you to take part in our tradition of excellence.
