Greetings from the Dean
Welcome to the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences,
a premier institution of pharmaceutical education and research. I have been fortunate
to have the opportunity to lead this college into a new era of patient care and research.
As the practice of pharmacy shifts toward providing patient care and education, our
curricula have remained on the leading edge of change. Student pharmacists practice
at the University of Toledo Medical Center and Clinics, and they provide care to patients
all over our region, our country and our world.
The research fields that create new treatments and therapies are essential to improving
patient health. Graduates with research experience in the pharmaceutical sciences
are in demand, and our graduates transition successfully into careers throughout the
pharmaceutical and patient care industries. The college offers unique majors and dual-degree
programs, including a bachelor's program in cosmetic science, the only program of
its kind in the nation, and options to complete a graduate degree in as little as
a year after earning a bachelor's degree. Our bachelor's degree programs also offer
great preparation for medical school.
The philosopher Aristotle stated, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then,
is not an act, but a habit.” At The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and
Pharmaceutical Sciences, we cultivate a habit of excellence among our faculty, staff
and students. Students admitted to the upper division are retained and graduate at
a rate of over 90%, and PharmD graduates pass the state licensure exam at a rate of
94% on the first attempt. The college offers residency and training in critical care
and infectious diseases in collaboration with health care institutions and under the
guidance of some of America’s most skilled, board-certified faculty and clinicians.
Over the past several years, scholarship programs have grown significantly at The
University of Toledo, offering tremendous support for student learning. The college
has facilities on both the Main Campus and on the Health Science Campus, where students
participate in inter-professional education with students from other healthcare disciplines
including medicine and nursing. The Simulation Center, the University's newest addition,
gives students practical experience that other local universities cannot offer. Our
modern facilities, unique degree options and commitment to students success are just
a few of the ways The University of Toledo gives you more.
I welcome you to explore the College's programs and learning opportunities, and I
invite you to take part in our tradition of excellence.
