Abstract Guidelines

42nd Annual Mid-Atlantic Graduate Student Symposium in Medicinal Chemistry

 June 21-23, 2009

Call For Abstracts
Deadline: Friday, June 12, 2009

The graduate students in the Department of Medicinal and Biological Chemistry at the University of Toledo are pleased to announce the 42nd Mid-Atlantic Graduate Student Symposium in Medicinal Chemistry to be held on June 21-23, 2009 at the University of Toledo. The MAGSS event serves as a platform for participants to present and discuss details of their research in the atmosphere of a casual scientific meeting. The symposium also offers participants an opportunity to develop effective presentation and communication skills through both oral and poster presentations. Abstracts are welcomed from both graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The graduate students and faculty of the Medicinal and Biological Chemistry Department at the University of Toledo would like to encourage everyone to participate in this year’s MAGSS in Medicinal Chemistry. We welcome you and hope to see you on our campus this June!

Student oral presentations will be held during the morning sessions on Monday, June 22nd, and Tuesday, June 23rd. The poster presentation and panel discussion sessions will occur during the afternoon of Monday, June 22nd. The meeting will end on Tuesday, June 23rd after the morning session. Please refer to the tentative schedule for more information.

Abstract Guidelines:

  • Abstracts will be restricted to a 250 word limit, not including title and author information.
  • Abstracts must be typed single spaced in Times New Roman (12pt) and fit on one side of an 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper, including relevant figures.  
  • Margins of 1.5” must be used on all sides.
  • Abstracts will be printed in black and white only! Be sure all figures are clear when printed in grayscale. 
  • Follow the example given below for title and author information. Make sure to underline the presenter’s name and provide an email address as contact information.  Please skip one line between author’s information and body of abstract.

  • Email your abstract as an attached MS word file to aamarji@utnet.utoledo.edu indicating the type of presentation (oral or poster).

Poster Presentation Guidelines:

  • Posters will be limited to a 48” (W) x 36” (H) area. Velcro sticky tabs or push pins will be provided.
  • Please include your contact information on your poster.

Oral Presentation Guidelines:

  • Oral presentations should be in PowerPoint slide format.
  • Oral presentations should be no more than 15 minutes in length, with an additional 5 minutes for questions/answers.
  • A microphone and laser pointer will be available for your use. You may bring your own laser pointer, if desired.

***NOTE: We will not have a Mac laptop or adapter available. Those using Mac format should convert their files to PC format before arrival.
