Wilderness Expedition Club
WEX, short for Wilderness EXpedition,
is a student run organization that helps connect UT's students with the great outdoors. We help fund trips that include,
but not limited
to, backpacking, camping, hiking, caving/spelunking, rock climbing/bouldering, and much more.
Trips are organized by the
members themselves. Any member may suggest a trip, and if enough people show interest and want to participate, then WEX can
help sponsor
the trip.
WEX has lots of gear, and we need you to use it. We have backpacking and camping gear such as backpacks, tents,
sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and camping stoves. We also have tons of climbing gear: ropes, harnesses, quick draws, and
ATC's.
We
have meetings every Tuesday at 8:15 PM in the Sycamore room in the Rec Center. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 PM to
8:00 PM, WEX is
also at the Rock Wall in the Rec Center. During that time, anybody can use the Rec Center climbing gear, and we can teach
people how to
properly use the gear. All are welcome.
