The REC is a prime example of a “for the student and by the student” philosophy in action. With over 200 student employees and a strong student leadership team, professional staff members stay in continual communication with students. The REC sees an average of 2000 visitors each day and serves as a central location for students, faculty, staff, and community members to pursue fitness, recreation and social interaction. The REC is a full service fitness center and offers a wide variety of services and programs, but to UT students, the REC is much more than that.
At the REC, we invite students to explore personal limits, learn new activities, experience sportsmanship, practice wholesome stress management techniques, grow in the understanding of diversity, discover healthy options, and hone leadership skills. The REC has been building students in these ways since 1990 and continues to support UT’s mission and core values through experiential learning and mentorship.
