Q1: What is the residency policy?
A: Based on housing availability, all full-time first-year students are required to live in University housing, and participate in the meal plan program, unless an exemption has been filed with and approved by the Office of Residence Life.
Q2: When can I apply for on-campus housing?
A: Once you are admitted and have created a UTAD account,
complete your online Houisng and Dining Service Application - Contract at the myUT portal, https://myut.utoledo.edu
Q3: Is there a housing application fee?
A. Yes. A $240 application and housing prepayment fee is required
at the time of application. The $200 housing prepayment fee is refundable, in full, through June 30, 2010.
Q4: Can I request a specific building?
A: YES! You will have the opportunity to self select your residence
hall during the room reservation period. The period begins in March for returning residents and May for new students.
Q5: Can I request a roommate?
A: YES! If applying for the entire academic year, once you begin the self
selection process for your housing assignment, you will have the option to search for a roommate based on similar housing
and lifestyle
preferences. If you wish to select a specific roommate, you must have their Rocket ID number and they must have applied prior
to July 30, 2010.
Q6: What types of rooms are there?
A: We offer single, double, triple and quad room accommodations, and
four and six person suites (connected series of rooms). Two person rooms are the most common. If there is a high demand for
housing, it is
possible that the latest applications received may be placed in temporary spaces.
Q7: Can I have a room of my own?
A: First-year students do not typically receive a room of their
own, but they can request one and we will honor their request if the space is available.
Q8: When will I know my housing assignment?
A: For fall 2010, you self select your housing assignment
during our room reservation process which begins in May for new students and March for returning students. Once you have selected
a room, your
housing assignment will appear on your myUT portal.
Q9: Is it possible to change my housing assignment once I have received it?
A: No. There is a two-week
"room freeze" period during the first two weeks of the semester. Once that time passes, you can request to move at the front
desk of the
residence hall you are looking to move to.
Q10: What items are supplied in the room?
A: Rooms vary in size, but the furnishings are basically the same
in each residence hall. Each student is supplied with an x-long twin bed (80" long), a desk and chair, drawer space, and space
for hanging
clothes. There are two telephone and data jacks in the rooms.
Q11: Where can I eat?
A: All residents except those in McComas Village are required to purchase a meal
plan. Various meal plans are available from a set number of meals a day to continuous dining all week with "All-you-care-to-eat"
dining
facilities across campus. Incoming, first-year students must select one of the three meal plans. Residence halls and the Student
Union offer a
variety of eateries for students.
Q12: Can I bring a car?
A: Yes! Any student may bring a car to campus and parking permits may be ordered
when registering for classes. However, freshmen residents are restricted to parking in a gated facility at the Scott Park
Campus (accessible by
bus). Other residents are restricted to specifically assigned residential parking lots at the Bancroft Campus. Please go to
parkingservices.utoledo.edu for additional information concerning parking on campus or call Parking Services at 419.530.5843
for information.
Q13: Can I move off-campus if I change my mind?
A: The housing application-contract is a commitment for an
academic year (August-May). The student may apply for a contract release during the academic year, however, only extenuating
circumstances would
warrant a release from the contract.
