    What’s New for Next Year?

No Advance Housing Payment: You do not have to submit a $200 advance housing payment.
    • Upper-level Residence Halls: Suite-style housing in Ottawa House and The Crossings will be reserved primarily for upper-level (sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate) students.
    • Second-Year Experience: Make the Most of It! This program is designed specifically to focus on second-year student issues and needs. The overall goal of the program is to enhance the second-year experience through programs and services in The Crossings and Ottawa House residence halls. Career service programs tailored to second-year students, personal assessments, life skills workshops and connections with UT alumni are just a few of the unique program components.
    • Multiple Suite Requests: You can live on campus with all of your friends. Register as a group, and you will be assigned with as many of your friends as the suites can fill. Fourperson suites are available in Ottawa House and the International House. Five-person suites are available in Ottawa House. Six-person suites are available in The Crossings and in the International House.
    • Meal Plan Options:
      • Flexible Meal Plans: Eat what you want, where you want, and when you want
        — it’s all up to you! You may select one of the four established meal plans or sign up for the east wing of the International House, which does not require a meal plan.
      • Grab N Go: Are you in a hurry? You can grab a packed lunch or dinner and get on your way. This service is offered at Taylor & Byrnes (Ottawa House East), Parks Tower and the International House
      • An increased number of vegan and vegetarian options

  • Living Learning Community:
The University of Toledo is one of the many schools across the country that offer you the option of a living learning community. Here are a couple of communities available to upper-level students.
    • Service-Learning Program — The Crossings (1st Floor)
The Service-Learning floor provides opportunities to work with a peer facilitator in small groups of 10-15 students on a community service project throughout the semester. The projects may include working with the American Red Cross, creating Web pages for various agencies, tutoring in after-school programs at local schools, and more. The time commitment is a minimum of three hours a month depending on the project. Faculty mentors, assigned to each group, assist students in connecting their services experiences with experiences in the classroom. Upper-level (sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate) students will have the opportunity to hold a leadershipposition on the floor as peer facilitators.
    • Alcohol- and Substance-Free Communities
      • Academic House Fifth floor
      • Carter East Hall Fifth floor
      • Carter West Hall Fifth floor
      • The Crossings 51 wing (Bancroft St.) and 53 wing (Dorr St.)
      • International House Second floor east wing
      • Ottawa West 1200 wing
  • Single Rooms:
If you are interested in a single room and do not participate in the Multi Suite process, you should participate in the Individual Room and Suite Selection process on Wednesday, February 14, or Thursday, February 15, 2007 on your assigned day and time. Single rooms will be offered based on class rank and earned credit hours. Single rooms are located in the Horton International House, The Crossings, and Ottawa House. Students who currently live in a single room do not have squatter’s rights. If you are unsuccessful in getting a single room, you may put your name on a waiting list in the Office of Residence Life. You will be notified if a space becomes available.
  • Multiple Suite Requests:
Groups of returning students are eligible to submit a request for a multiple-suite assignment. This is a great opportunity for floor communities to remain in close proximity to each other next year. Groups must contain at least eight applicants for Ottawa House and the International House and twelve applicants for the Crossings. The group may specify building, suites and room preferences, but actual assignments will be made by Residence Life based on group size and available space. The groups may be co-ed as long as each suite is single-gender. Suites within the group will be assigned in as close proximity to each other as possible.
    • Available Housing for Multiple Suite Requests
    • Ottawa House:
      • Four-person suites (two double bedrooms)
      • Five-person suites (one triple bedroom and one double bedroom)
      • The Crossings:

      • International House:
        • Four-person suites (two double bedrooms)
        • Six-person suites (two double bedrooms and two single bedrooms)
Groups should complete the Multiple Suite Request Form. These forms need to be submitted to the Office of Residence Life, along with each member’s signed Contract Renewal Form by February 2, 2007.
  • Individual Room and Suite Selection:
This process will take place in the Office of Residence Life, Ottawa House West, Room 1014.
Students who did not participate in the Multiple Suite process will have the option to select a room (single, double, triple, quad) or suite as part of the Individual Room and Suite Selection process. In order to efficiently fill available space, students may be assigned to a partially filled room where an available space exists.

  • Frequently Asked Questions:

    • What forms do I need?

There are three forms you may need. These forms are available at all hall information desks and the Office of Residence Life, Ottawa House West - Room 1014.
        1. Housing and Dining Service Contract Renewal form
Every student needs to complete a Housing and Dining Service Contract Renewal form, and agree to the housing Terms and Conditions for the 2007-08 academic year, in order to participate in the housing selection process. Bring this form with you to housing selection. NOTE: Students younger than 18 at the time they select a space must have their parent /guardian’s signature on the Contract Renewal Form before they will be allowed to select a space
        2. Multiple Suite Request Form.
If you want to request a multiple suite assignment, your group must complete the Multiple Suite Request Form and submit it along with each member’s Contract Renewal form by Feb. 2, 2007.
        3. Proxy form.
If you cannot be present on your scheduled day or time for housing selection, you need to complete a Proxy form. This will allow another person to select a space for you.
    • What if I can’t make my assigned selection date and time?.
Students who cannot make their designated selection day and time should have a proxy act for them on their behalf. The proxy must present your completed Housing and Dining Services Contract Renewal Form and a Proxy form. All decisions and actions by a proxy are binding on the original student.
    • What if I missed my appointment time?.
If you miss your appointment, come late. During Individual Room and Suite Selection, you can still select a room/suite anytime after your appointment. You can also come to Open Selection on Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, or any date after that.
    • What if I missed room selection?.
Students who miss the room selection dates can still select a space. Stop by the Office of Residence Life located in Ottawa House West Room 1020 for more information. Room assignments will be made based on the availability of space.
