First Year Experience - Parks Tower
Parks Tower is a residence hall for first-year students, regardless of major, to experience and realize the full potential of their first year at The University of Toledo. The programming focus is on the specific needs, issues and challenges of first-year students. The staff is specifically trained to better understand first-year students, and with a smaller student to staff ratio than in other residence halls are able to spend more time with floor residents. Students will have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, improve their academic skills and make an overall positive transition to college life. Opportunities for frequent faculty-student interaction and individualized attention will be provided to the students residing on these floors. Students will also have greater opportunity to be connected to University services as well as participate in workshops, study groups and tutorials designed to help with their transition to college.

Alcohol and Substance Free Environment
College is a time when you are faced with many decisions. You are dealing with academic and career concerns, issues related to sexuality and pressures to use alcohol and other drugs. Many times others are involved in influencing your decisions. Especially with regard to alcohol and other drugs, the pressure can be very strong. Some expect that alcohol, in particular, will be a part of college life.

The University of Toledo is one of the many schools across the country that offer you the option of living on an alcohol and substance free floor. These floors are defined as living environments where all residents and guests agree to keep their living areas free from alcohol and substances, including cigarettes, tobacco products, and inhalants.

The Alcohol and Substance-Free floor is intended to provide an active living learning environment centered around an alcohol and substance free lifestyle. To meet the goals of this community, expectations are in places for residents of the floor. Parks Tower is an alcohol-free building with two alcohol and substance-free floors. Other residence halls with alcohol and substance free floors are the Academic House, Carter Hall, The Crossings, the International House and Ottawa House.
