    Movies

During the academic year, all students living on campus receive Channel 20, UT's own FREE movie channel.

    Playing the month of April:

    CADILLAC RECORDS:
This period piece chronicles the rise and fall of influential R&B record label Chess Records which launched the careers of Muddy Waters, Etta James and Chuck Berry. Leonard Chess scoured the South, checking out the various blues scenes and selling records from the back of his Cadillac in this exciting and turbulent tale.

HOW TO LOSE FRIENDS AND ALIENATE PEOPLE:
Sidney Young is a disillusioned intellectual who both adores and despises the world of celebrity, fame and glamour and writes about it in his alternative magazine, Post Modern Review. When Young is offered a job at the diametrically opposed conservative Sharps magazine, it comes as a shock but he takes it and begins his descent into success in this comedy.

    MADAGASCAR 2: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA:
This sequel brings back lovable New York Zoo Animals, Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo. Still stranded in Madagascar, they manage to leave the island only to land in the wilderness of Africa. There, Alex meets the rest of his family but has trouble communicating after his time at the Central Park Zoo in this hilarious animated adventure.

    ROLE MODELS:
Danny and Wheeler are two salesmen who trash a company truck and the court gives them a choice: do hard time or spend 150 service hours with a mentorship program. The pair find themselves wishing for iron bars after just one day with their challenging “little brothers” and give sketchy advice to their charges in this comedy.

ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO:
Lifelong platonic friends Zack and Miri find themselves both with financial woes. They decide they will make an adult film together to get some cash flowing. As the cameras roll, however, the duo begins to sense that they may have more feelings for each other than they previously thought.

    FREE WILLY:

Jesse (Jason James Richter), a troubled twelve-year-old, befriends Willy, an orca whale recently captured by the seaquarium. When the owner of the seaquarium plots to kill Willy for the insurance money, Jesse risks his life to FREE WILLY in this touching family adventure.

    28 DAYS:
Gwen Cummings (Sandra Bullock) is a successful New York writer and everyone’s favorite party girl living life in the fast lane—until she gets drunk with her boyfriend, borrows her sister’s wedding limo and earns herself a stay in court-ordered rehab. There, Gwen comes face to face with a unique set of rules and rituals embraced by an assortment of interesting characters and eventually realizes that life is not one big party.

    DAVE CHAPPELLE'S BLOCK PARTY:
Superstar comedian Dave Chappelle decides to throw a Block Party in this riotously funny documentary.  He personally invites a group of people to a hip- hop concert in Brooklyn featuring Kanye West, Mos Def, Common, Erykah Badu, the reunited Fugees and others.  Chappelle’s comedy is featured throughout this musical laugh-fest.

    THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST:
Mel Gibson brings the story of the last twelve hours in the life of Jesus of Nazareth to the screen in epic fashion.  The film takes us from the Garden of Olives to the sentencing of Jesus to his brutal torture by the Roman soldiers.  The very realistic portrayal of the crucifixion demonstrates both the brutality of man and the compassion of Christ.

    SCHINDLER'S LIST:

Based on a true story and adapted from Thomas Keneally’s 1982 award-winning book, a German businessman (Liam Neeson) overcomes unbelievable odds to protect and rescue more than 1100 Jews from Auschwitz in this World War II epic drama of faith and survival.
