Recycling
The University of Toledo has consistently committed to more sustainable practices. The University recently created a new recycling label, and slogan that will be used on many emails, signage, and other forms of communication throughout campus. The new slogan, “Blue and Gold makes Green,” will remind everyone ways they can be more environmentally friendly.
UTactively participates in the recycling of aluminum, cardboard, glass, paper, wood, tires, vehicle fluid, cooking oil, batteries, cell phones, computers, light bulbs, printer cartridges, electronics with a circuit board and some plastics.
Students also are involved in waste reduction. UT teams up with Goodwill of Northwest Ohio to recycle items that students leave behind after moving out in the spring. In previous years, clothing, housewares, furniture, and small appliances have been collected, recycled, and reused.
70% of UT’s landscaping waste is either composted or mulched.
