UT Statement on Hazing and Bullying
|
Dear campus community, To sustain our mission of improving the human condition, the university has zero tolerance for hazing or bullying of any kind. The Office of the Dean of Students works closely with The University of Toledo Police Department and the Anti-bullying Task Force to educate students about hazing and bullying. Hazing and bullying are violations of the Student Code of Conduct. Hazing is defined as: “Physical abuse, verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, harassment, coercion, retaliation, bullying, or other conduct which threatens or endangers the health or safety of any person…” You can view the policy in its entirety here. Additionally, hazing and bullying may be criminal acts in the State of Ohio. For more information, please refer to the Ohio Revised Code. Anyone with knowledge of a hazing or bullying incident should immediately report such behavior to the Office of the Dean of Students at 419.530.2256. Finally, the University has developed a website for troubleshooting life’s challenges (TLC). Here you will find information and resources on hazing, bullying, mental health, substance abuse and many other challenges a person may face, but can conquer. Have a great year and thank you for making UT a safe place for everyone. Sincerely, |
