Chief Financial Officer & Vice President for Finance
David O. Dabney, C.P.A., C.I.A.
David O. Dabney, an award-winning financial affairs professional whose 38-year career
spans such diverse environments as banking, private corporations, state investment,
and higher education, joined The University of Toledo as Vice President for Finance
in April 2008.
Dabney brings to The University of Toledo experience in a number of higher education settings. Before joining the university, Dabney served as treasurer at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, Director of Financial Services at the University of Texas at Tyler, an internal auditor with the University of Texas system, fiscal manager for the Child Care Management Services contract at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas, and an instructor of economics and finance for Le Tourneau University.
Dabney worked in state government as chief financial officer at the Texas Treasury
Safekeeping Trust Co. in Austin, Texas, that was responsible for investing the excess
funds of the state and thirteen state endowments.
He began his career in banking at Indiana National Bank in Indianapolis in 1972. In
1974, he joined First City National Bank of Houston, serving on the bank’s senior
credit committee and data processing priority committee. In 1981, he joined a subsidiary
of Southwest Bancshares, progressing to senior vice president responsible for credit
and loan operations and the lending staff.
