Fall Break Trip to DC - Sept 28, 29, 30 and Oct. 1

2^nd annual Fall Break educational tour to our nation’s Capital city, Washington, D.C.

Sign-ups in the Student Union Room 2514. Cost is $200 for transportation, lodging, tours, 1 group dinner and DC Highlights info brochure. Students should bring spending money for souvenirs and meals. $100 deposit due at sign-up. Seating is limited.

Sand Piper Boat Tour – Saturday, Sept. 21

Sail down the Maumee River, enjoy friends, music, and food as you take in the scenic view of the city of Toledo. Bus transportation will be provided and the cost of the trip is $5.00.

Arab American Museum – Friday, Sept. 20
Join the Catharine S. Eberly Center for Women for a free lunch and guided tour of the nation’s first and only museum dedicated to Arab American history and culture.

This event is free but registration is required, seats are limited. Both co-ed and female only transportation will be provided.

April 5	Free Bus Trip to the To The Arab American National Museum in Dearborn, MI On Friday, April 5th join the Office of Equity, Diversity and Community Engagement (OEDC) for a free lunch and guided tour of the nation’s first and only museum dedicated to Arab American history and culture. Bus leaves from SU Bus Loop at 11 a.m. Bus returns to UT by 5 p.m. This event is free but registration is required, seats are limited. Both co-ed and female-only transportation will be provided. Register in-person, during business hours at one of two locations: OEDC, University Hall 3770 or the The Center for International Studies and Programs,Snyder Memorial 1000.

March 21	Japanese Spring Festival Japan is famous for its cherry blossoms, especially in Kyoto. Celebrate Japanese culture, music and food at the 4th Annual Japanese Spring Festival to be held next Thursday, March 21st, at the 2nd Floor Auditorium in the Student Union of The University of Toledo. The Festival will run from noon until 3 p.m.

Jan 25	Toledo Walleye Game Rocket fans will have the opportunity to get together to cheer on the Toledo Walleye hockey team with discounted tickets to the Friday, January 25^th game versus the Kalamazoo Wings! Faceoff is at 7:05pm at the Huntington Center in downtown Toledo. Tickets to UT Night at the Toledo Walleye Game will be $5 for students, available at Rocket Copy located in the Student Union near Room 2525. Each student may purchase one ticket by showing their Rocket ID. Bus transportation for students will be available from campus - You may sign up for transportation at Rocket Copy when you purchase your ticket. You are not required to take the bus! The bus will leave from the Student Union Bus Loop at 5:30pm and the bus will return to campus after the game. 	Airport Transportation Service: Detroit Airport Only Flying back to your hometown for winter break and need a ride to the airport? The Center for International Studies and Programs will make that happen! We are now providing airport transportation services to get you to and from the airport! Please review the following dates and times to register for the days you would require transportation. Drop-off service: Dates: December 14, 15,16, and 17. Price: $20/person Time: we will depart from CISP office at 8am. Pick-up service: Dates: January 4, 5, and 6 Price: $20/person Time: we will depart Detroit airport at 5pm. Dec. 15	Zoo Lights Join us for a Toledo Holiday tradition for the Lights Before Christmas at the Toledo Zoo. During the holiday season, the Zoo is transformed into a winter wonderland. The Lights Before Christmas holiday event features over one million lights, over 200 images of some of your favorite animals, ice-carving demonstrations on Thursday evenings, carolers, holiday treats, the Swanton Area Railroad model trains, and visits with Santa in the Indoor Theatre. Bus transportation will be provided and reservations can be made in the CISP Suite (SM 100). Cost: $10 per student which includes transportation, entrance ticket and vouchre for a hot chocolate & a cookies. Nov 12-16 Event Schedule	International Education Week (IEW) IEW is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States. A wide array of events will be hosted across campus.
Nov 22	Host an International Student for Thanksgiving Share in a cross cultural experience with an American family as you celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday. Families have volunteered to open their homes to share a meal with international students. If you would like to take part in this opportunity as a host family or as an international student/scholar, please fill out the request form.

Oct 11	Sylvania Playland Are you an international student with children? If yes, this event is for you! Sylvania PlayLand is an indoor wonderland for children. Various Swing sets and inflatables provide hours of high active entertainment for children. www.sylvaniaplayland.com Bus transportation will be provided to this location and reservations can be made in the CISP Suite (SM 100). The cost of the trip is $8.00 dollars per child and includes entrance ticket, pizza dinner and transportation for the entire family. Adults are free. Oct 26	1 Mile Matters Do you believe that every person matters? Do you seek to make the world a better place? When you’ve walked or driven by a homeless person, did you ever wonder how they got into that position? Taking a step in the right direction is as easy as joining Sherris Anne Schwind’s Fall Term 2 Advanced American Language Institute (ALI) classes: Speaking and Listening, and, U.S. Popular Culture in a 1 mile walk to support Tent City. Schwind’s students are learning about American cultural values (charity and community service among them) and the importance of integrating and investing not only capital resources, but sweat-equity into causes that move them. They are excited about seeing Ken Leslie and meeting more members of his 1Matters team at the event. Her classes will be photo and video documenting the walk. The group plans to caravan from ALI (Snyder Memorial) Friday, Oct. 26, departing around 5:30 p.m. If you would like to join this team, please sign-up in the Center for International Studies and Programs, SM 1000. The walk begins in downtown Toledo at Promenade Park at 6:30 pm. Parking will be available behind Murphy’s (off of Summit Street) and costs $3 per car. Sept 29 - Oct 2	Fall Break Washington D.C. Trip (SOLD OUT) Tour the nation’s capital over fall break. Students will be provided the opportunity to tour various monuments and historic sites. Students will be transported by charter bus and will be housed at Hostelling International www.hiwashingtondc.org . A personal tour guide will provide a walking tour of major attractions such as The White House, The Library of Congress, The Holocaust Museum and much more. The cost for the trip is being finalized and will be posted shortly. The trip cost will include charter bus transportation, accommodations, personal tour guide, metro pass and a group dinner. Aug 11	Tour of Toledo and Shopping Trip Would you like to familiarize yourself with the city of Toledo? Please join us on a bus tour of the city. You will be able to view some of the city landmarks and take photos. The tour will stop at a large store so you can purchase grocery and household items. Sign up for the tour will be held at International Student Orientation. Apartment Tour Take a closer look at several apartment complexes in order to make a good housing decision on the Apartment Tour.
