Welcome
Social Work Program

The Social Work Program has recently undergone exciting growth as a result of inclusion of the Master of Social Work Program. The MSW program along with the ever successful BSW program offers social work education and training from generalist through advanced generalist and from micro through macro social work practice. The faculty and staff have established, as central to our mission, a strong focus on social and economic justice. In carrying out this mission, students enrolled in our programs are taught to recognize issues of oppression and discrimination. In addition, social work students build an appreciation and respect for the strengths diversity brings to everyday situations. Diversity, as conceptualized within the social work programs, include but are not limited to culture, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, people with disabilities, age, sexual orientation, and political perspectives.
The Social Work Program is located in the College of Social Justice and Human Service where many related programs are also housed thus there are many opportunities to collaborate within the college. The Social Work Program also offers a number of collaborative opportunities with other professional programs serving the Northwest Ohio community and beyond. Social workers collaborate with professionals in almost every setting imaginable. Professionals in social work are necessary in schools, in agencies providing services to people with disabilities, in the courts and jails, in the legislature, in industries within employee assistance programs, hospitals, and in agencies working with children, adolescents, adults and with older adults. A career in social work really opens many doors and possibilities!!!
Both the BSW program and the MSW program enjoy full accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The social work programs strive to uphold the highest standards of social work education.
