Arts Living and Learning Community
The Arts Living and Learning Community (ALLC) is for first-year students majoring in the Arts - visual arts, music, creative writing, theatre, or film. Non-arts majors with an interest in the arts are also accepted.
One Million Bones Project
The Arts Living Learning Community invited the UT campus to join them in making bones
for the One Million Bones Project in spring, 2012. This collaborative art installation aims to raise awareness of genocide
and mass atrocities. Each bone made represents one life lost to genocide. The bones
created by the group will be part of an installation on the National Mall in Washington,
D.C., in spring 2013.

Living
The ALLC is located in Ottawa House East, the newest residence hall on campus. The
ALLC area includes an art studio, piano practice room, library, and a computer lab.
In the ALLC, you'll have plenty of opportunities to get to know other aspiring artists,
writers and musicians, who will be your roommates. Ottawa East offers residents and
ALLC members a suite-style room with two double bedrooms, a furnished living room
and a bathroom. View a room layout.
Learning
As an ALLC resident, you'll enroll in the Arts Living and Learning Forum Interdisciplinary
Studies 1000 (1 credit hour) in both fall and spring semesters. This one credit hour
class meets once a week in Ottawa House East and is just for ALLC residents.
This class not only fulfills UT core requirements, it also will help you explore your interests in the arts and see how all the branches - music, visual arts, acting, film, creative writing - are connected.
You will learn outside of the classroom with opportunities to attend concerts, films, theatre performances & visual arts events both on and off campus.
Community
Become a member of the ALLC family and share your talents and interests with other
artists. The ALLC encourages students to realize their potential as artists and celebrate
diversity. Living in the ALLC is an opportunity to make your first year at UT exciting,
supportive and unique.
There is a $100 per semester programming fee for ALLC members.
