Adam Shiverdecker
Assistant Professor of 3D Interdisciplinary Art/Ceramics
Adam Shiverdecker earned his Master’s of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art with a concentration in Ceramics, from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC in 2008. Prior to the completion of this terminal degree, he was a Visiting Researcher at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia, 2007. His career as an artist and teacher have resulted in an impressively rich set of diverse strengths that embrace interdisciplinary pedagogy.
Mr. Shiverdecker has amassed an impressive list of outstanding awards, residencies, and exhibitions in his brief time after graduate school. He was twice a Short-term Resident at the The Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts in Helena, MT. He was an Artist’s Assistant (Virginia Scotchie), at the FuLe International Ceramic Art Museum (FLICAM), Fuping, China, in 2007. He was voted the 2010 Emerging Artist by Ceramics Monthly Magazine, an international publication. He has also participated in a many national exhibitions.
In 2009, Mr. Shiverdecker was a Visiting Lecturer at the prestigious Tyler School of Art. At the conclusion of this appointment, he immediately followed with an appointment to the position of Visiting Lecturer, and Area Head of Ceramics at the University of West Florida, Pensacola, FL. Mr. Shiverdecker brings a dynamism both to his classroom and to his commitment as a colleague.
