TEACHING ASSISTANTS
David Jex
David Jex is Professor of Music at the University of Toledo, where, since 1983, he has taught
theory and composition as well as jazz studies courses. He was an Assistant Professor
at Lycoming College from 1978 to 1983, where he was also an instructor at the Pennsylvania
Governor's School for the Arts.
He has degrees from the University of Toledo [1973], Bowling Green State University [1975] and the Cleveland Institute of Music [1978], where he was a student of Donald Erb.
Jex has won composition prizes and awards from prestigious groups such as the Ohio Arts Council, the Chautauqua Chamber Singers, Louisiana State University, and A.S.C.A.P. Jex is frequently commissioned and performed by professional ensembles. Wingert-Jones Music and Encore Music publish his compositions.
