TEACHING ASSISTANTS
Stephen Hodge
Stephen Hodge has served as
Director of Choral Activities at The University of Toledo since 1989. His teaching
duties consist of directing the Concert Chorale, Men’s Chorus, and
Community Chorus; in addition, teaching voice and graduate seminars. He taught secondary
vocal music in Kansas, his native state, later teaching at
the collegiate level in Alabama and Florida.
Stephen Hodge received Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music Education degrees from Wichita State University. A doctorate in choral literature and conducting was conferred by The University of Colorado-Boulder. Principal mentors include Harrison Boughton, Lynn Whitten, and Hugh Ross.
Dr. Hodge is an active member of Chorus America, American Choral Directors’ Association, and Music Educators’ National Conference. He is a frequent clinician within the state of Ohio, and serves as an adjudicator for Ohio Music Education Association and Educational Programs Network.
Other than choral conducting and teaching, Stephen Hodge composes music for choirs and performs as alto soloist. He has conducted church choirs since 1969. Currently, Dr. Hodge serves as director of adult music and worship at Olivet Lutheran Church in Sylvania, Ohio.
