A company member of The Other Theatre/L'Autre Theatre from 1997 to 1999, she performed in KASPAR, YEAR ZERO and HUMAN COLLISION/ATOMIC REACTION which was presented at the "Festival de Théâtre des Amériques" in 1999 and won the Montreal English Critics Circle Award for "Best Direction" and "Best Production". New York credits include: Aase in PEER GYNT directed by Andrei Serban, THE DANCING FOX with the Mettawee River Theatre and Andrei Serban’s BENVENUTO CELLINI at the NY Metropolitan Opera. Alby was a founding member and the Managing Director of Toledo's Glacity Theatre Collective (GTC) during the company's first three years, and continues to freelance with the company as a director/actor. GTC Credits include playing Honey in Albee's WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?, Kate in Laura Wade's BREATHING CORPSES and directing Jenny Schwartz's GOD'S EAR. Cornel Gabara's work as a performer has taken him to major international festivals world-wide. Roles of note including performing and touring in Andrei Serban's FRAGMENTS OF A GREEK TRILOGY, the role of Eurystheus in Peter Sellar's CHILDREN OF HERAKLES and the lead role in the remount of Robert Wilson's HAMLETMACHINE at the National Theatre of Bucharest. North American credits include performing at A.R.T., the McCarter theatre, The New York Metropolitan Opera and La Mama ETC. He is the Artistic Director and a founding member of the Glacity Theatre Collective in Toledo Ohio and has directed the majority of the company's plays, including the Carnegie Hall performance of EVERY GOOD BOY DESERVES FAVOUR in collaboration with the Toledo Symphony, which received rave reviews in the NY Times and the Financial Times. His students have gone on to perform with professional theatres in the area and in NY, as well as in commercials, voice overs, in Indy films and on HBO. They have been accepted at prestigious MFA programs such as New School for Drama, CalArts and Brown University. More info about his work can be found on his website.
