Cynthia Stroud, Part-time Faculty
Cynthia Stroud received a PhD in Theatre and a Graduate Certificate in Performance
Studies from Bowling Green State University in 2013. She has been on the University
of Toledo faculty intermittently since 1995, and has also taught theatre and performance
studies courses at BGSU, Owens Community College, and the Performing Arts School of
Metropolitan Toledo.
Her research has been published in Theatre Journal, Youth Theatre Journal, The Electronic Center for Contemporary Cultural Studies, and The Projector, and her most recent work focuses on the contemporary practice of stage hypnosis. Her doctoral dissertation, "Stage Hypnosis in the Shadow of Svengali: Historical Influences, Public Perceptions, and Contemporary Practices," examined the relationship of expectations and assumptions to experience in stage hypnosis volunteers.
Also a prolific actor and director, Cynthia can often be found working on local productions.
