Written and performed by Tibor Varszegi
Visiting Hungarian artist Tibor Varszegi performs his new one-man show.  “The crook and the bow of the viola – as part of the world-tree – can help in actuating the creative forces not as the masters of existence but as the shepherds of it.”

Topdog/Underdog – Suzan-Lori Parks (see show photos)
Director – Sylvia Carter
Parks won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama with this play about two brothers, Lincoln and Booth, who grapple with sibling rivalry and the destiny implied by their names.

Top Girls - Caryl Churchill (see show photos and read more about the UT production)
Director – Irene Alby
What does it take for a woman to come out on top in a “man’s world”? 
Churchill juxtaposes fantasy with reality for this postmodern look at capitalism, class, gender politics and feminist theory.

Our third annual evening of short plays written, rehearsed and performed in 24 hours.  Let the chaos begin!

SPRING 2008

Ubu Rex – Alfred Jarry (Visit the Photo Gallery)
Director – Cornel Gabara
Our anti-hero, the odiously vile and cowardly Ubu, manages to become the King of Poland at the urging of his Lady Macbeth-like wife – but not for long.
Originally written by a youthful Jarry about a hated childhood teacher, this political satire caused a riot at its premiere in Paris in 1896.

Mike Majoros film screening and workshop
Mike Majoros received a Masters degree in film/video from MIT in 1980.  He is a documentary filmmaker whose recent work has screened internationally at festivals including Berlin, Silverdocs, and Sundance.  His work has also appeared on PBS, IFC, and the Sundance Channel. In addition he has produced multi-media installations for a range of museums including the International Spy Museum, and the Smithsonian Institute.

Censorship Symposium 
This annual event focuses on contemporary issues of censorship at the University, local and national level.
Schedule of screenings and related events will be announced in early March.

Bat Child Found in Cave!  Mysterious cow deaths!  Jealous veterinarians! Interspecies romance! Blood, violence, singing!  The only musical based on tabloid headlines, this grotesque, bizarre, yet somehow moving show has become a worldwide hit.
