CCTV Cameras
University Police is responsible for coordinating the University's exterior CCTV efforts. UT Police manages the installation, upkeep and monitoring of all cameras in parking structures or on the exterior of buildings. Any cameras inside buildings, hallways, classrooms, labs, etc., are the responsibility of individual colleges, departments, or offices.
Among the cameras controlled by UT Police are 14 cameras on and around Rocket Hall, McComas Village, both east and west parking ramps, and a number of parking lots on the south side of campus.
They also observe a portion of the University Parks Bike Trail, and are capable of viewing certain areas near the International House and Crossings residence halls, the Student Medical Center, the Honors Academic Center, Carter Hall West and the Physical Plant.
Lot 20, south of the College of Engineering, has an additional 10 cameras. These cameras are capable of viewing areas around Nitschke Hall, Palmer Hall, and the Westwood Annex.
Scott Park Campus has a total of 15 cameras -- 12 in Lot 21 to monitor the freshman parking area, and 3 in and around the Night Watch (Escort Service) pick up and waiting areas.
The cameras are monitored in the Police Communication Center.
