A course archive is a file that contains an exact copy of your course content and
tools, including learning activities, communication, tests and grade center columns.
You can use an archive to transfer your course material from one Blackboard site to
another, without needing to rebuild your course from scratch. To create an archive:
In the control panel of the course you want to archive, click on Export/Archive Course under Packages and Utilities
Click on the Archive button.
Select whether or not to include the grade center history and click Submit. Click Calculate Size to determine the size of the archive. If this number is 0, you are likely to get an error message when uploading the file to the destination
course. In this case, wait a few minutes and try again.
A message will appear in a green header, confirming that the request is being processed.
This may take a few minutes depending on computer settings and Internet connection
Go to the control panel of the course you created an archive of.
Click on Packages and Utilities and select Export/Archive Course
The system will list all archive files that have been created.
Click the chevron next to the file you want to download and select Open

How do I upload an archive course into a blank course?
In the control panel of the class site you want to upload your archive package created in the previous
step, click on Import Package under Packages and Utilities.
Click on the Import Package button in the left corner.
Click on Browse to select an archive file from your computer
Select which content items to import.
Click Submit to confirm and the system will upload the archive package

When the process is completed, a log will appear and it will detail any errors or
warnings that occurred during the import process
Once the import is completed, it may take some time for the course links to appear
in the course menu
If the import log file contains the following message: "a fatal error has occurred"
or if the course links are copied but the course files do not exist, go back to step
1 and repeat the archive process.

Use Browse to locate a content area in the course to publish the item to.
Note: Discussions and assignments cannot be copied over. These items will need to

How do I copy a test or survey to another class?
Click on Course Tools under the Control Panel
Click on Tests, Surveys and Pools.
Click on Tests
Find the test you want to copy and choose Export from the drop down menu
You will then be asked to save the file to your computer.
Go to the class that you want to copy the test to.
Click on Tests, Surveys and Pools
Click on tests
Then click on Import Test.
Select the file you wish to import.
The test will now be listed, and will be available for deployment under create assessment. << back to top
How do I manage permissions on my course files?
The default permission settings do not permit students to view course files. Therefore,
it is necessary to check the permission settings of course files
To edit permission settings, click on Files in the control panel.

This will bring up the file manager.
Select the file or folder to change permission settings. Click on the icon in the

Select the checkbox next to All Course Users and the checkbox for Read access.
This will allow students to view course files. If students report issues with viewing
files after the proper permissions are set, instruct the student to clear their browsing
