The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program (approved by Ohio Board of Regents 12/6/07) at The University of Toledo builds on current master's prepared, nationally certified Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Nurse Midwives, and Nurse Administrators. This program is offered in collaboration with Wright State University College of Nursing and Health. Students are admitted in cohorts of 10 at each university. The DNP program will be offered as part-time only to the first few cohorts. In the near future, we will offer a full-time program. A future DNP program will also be developed to move from BSN directly to DNP.
The program curriculum is designed to prepare advanced practice nurses to work in a variety of direct or indirect health care settings according to their education. The curriculum includes theoretically based and clinically focused courses and is considered primarily online with a few sessions on either the UT or WSU campus. Students are expected to be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and other electronic means of communication.
|
Pre-requisites: prospecitve students must have completed graduate multivariate statistics and health-related human genetics courses with a B or better and within 5 years of enrollment. |
DNP Advanced Practice Majors
Each program focuses on an area of advanced nursing practice that leads to the DNP degree. We currently may accept applicants who are nationally certified in their areas of specialization.
