Preschool Special Needs Endorsement
![]() |
![]() |
Students seeking an endorsement in Preschool Special Needs (PSNE) must hold a current
teaching license in K-12 Intervention Specialist (mild/moderate or moderate/intensive).
If you add this endorsement, you can teach in an Ohio public preschool, which is a
special education unit funded by the federal government.
The PSNE endorsement is based on the competencies identified by the Ohio Board of
Regents/Department of Education. Preschool Special Needs Endorsement provides teachers
with the coursework and field experiences necessary to work effectively with preschool
aged children with disabilities in a variety of settings. Please review the course list here. Applicants may obtain a master’s degree in special education in conjunction with
the endorsement requirements.
The on-line nature of the endorsement provides accessibility to practicing professional special educators who are unable to take traditional, on-campus graduate courses. Many students choose to pair a certificate with a degree program, discuss all your options with your academic adviser.
The University of Toledo is regionally accredited by the North Central Association (NCA) and is authorized to offer degrees online.
