Concentration in Therapeutic Arts
A student can apply and receive a Concentration in Therapeutic Arts by completing nine additional hours in therapeutic art course work. The student must take AED 4560 Introduction to Therapeutic Art, AED 4300 Media and Methods in Therapeutic Art and one elective course in therapeutic art. Receiving education and training in therapeutic art will enhance the student's ability to work with clients who do not respond to traditional intervention methods. In therapeutic art, the student's art skills are not a prerequisite, rather the student will be introduced to therapeutic art through investigation of theories in art education and art therapy and will explore group and individual art media and methods in therapeutic art programming.
