Abbey Thomas, Ph.D., ATC

 

Abbey Thomas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology. She earned a bachelor’s degree (Kinesiology) from Pennsylvania State University in 2005, a master’s degree (Kinesiology) from University of Virginia in 2006, and a doctorate (Kinesiology) from University of Michigan in 2010. She was certified by the Board of Certification in 2005 and licensed by the State of Ohio in 2012.

Her research focuses on understanding how knee osteoarthritis develops and exploring new treatment strategies for countering it.  More specifically, she explores the neuromuscular and biomechanical consequences of anterior cruciate ligament injuries and how those contribute to joint degeneration.
