This program description provides the potential student and the matriculated student
with information about the Occupational Therapy Doctoral degree program. It should
be viewed as an adjunct to the Health Science Campus Graduate Student Handbook from the College of Graduate Studies which contains specific information regarding
pertinent policies. The information herein is subject to periodic change. It is the
applicant's responsibility to obtain and meet the most current admissions criteria.
It is the student's responsibility to be aware of all degree requirements and to work
closely with an advisor to ensure that all requirements are fulfilled.
On July 1, 2006, The University of Toledo (UT) and the Medical University of Ohio
merged to form one comprehensive University of Toledo. UT includes Main Campus on
Bancroft Street and the Health Science Campus on Arlington Avenue. UT's Main Campus
is home to the College of Health Sciences (CHS). The Occupational Therapy, Physical
Therapy and other CHS departments are located in the Health and Human Services Building.
The 160,000 square-foot structure houses three CHS departments along with 15 mediated
classrooms using technology and multiple specialty research laboratories. The wireless
building provides an environment that enhances teaching, faculty/student interaction,
services for the community, and research data collection. The occupational therapy
classrooms and laboratories have been custom designed to offer students hands-on learning
opportunities and access to high-tech research equipment. The occupational therapy
program at UT is among only 160 such programs in the United States. U.S. News and
World Report currently ranks UT's OT program among the top 25 percent of occupational
therapy programs.
