      Department of Physical Therapy - Michelle Masterson, P.T., Ph.D.

      Dr. Masterson has been a faculty member in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Toledo since 1989.  She received her B.S. in Physical Therapy from Bowling Green State University in consortium with the Medical College of Ohio in 1984 and earned her M.Ed. in Biomechanics and Ph.D. in Exercise Science from the University of Toledo in 1993 and 2003 respectively.

      Dr. Masterson practiced full-time in the acute care and neuro rehabilitation settings for approximately five years prior to teaching.  In 2005, Dr. Masterson helped develop and implement an interdisciplinary team clinic for patients with Parkinson’s disease in which she now practices part-time.  Her areas of teaching expertise include interdisciplinary health care teams, Parkinson’s disease, geriatrics, health promotion, and functional mobility assessment and interventions.  Her research interests include health promotion and aging, and the evaluation and management of Parkinson’s disease.
