1.) What product has been selected?
UTMC has selected the McKesson Horizon Ambulatory Care (HAC) system as the electronic medical record system for our Ambulatory
environment. HAC is
a Web-based, workflow-driven ambulatory electronic health record solution that automates the clinical functions of a physician
office.
2.) What features are included in HAC?
- Prescription management; electronic prescription writing; electronic prescription transmission to pharmacies
- Care Provider order entry
- Results reporting
- Encounter documentation
- Clinical workflow management and interoffice communications
3.) What are the benefits of HAC?
- Improves the quality of patient care by empowering physicians with comprehensive, easily accessible information for making patient care decisions
- Improves office efficiencies through a sophisticated workflow and messaging engine that streamlines clinical processes
- Enhances patient safety through electronic prescribing tools with integrated, real-time medication screening and access to clinical information at the time of decision-making
- Drives financial savings by improving medical necessity compliance and enhancing billing accuracy
4.) What system will be used for registration once HAC is live?
UTMC has elected to remain with the current system of record STAR. Patients will be registered in the STAR registration system for each visit. Upon registration, demographics for the patient will be updated automatically in HAC with data from the STAR system.
Back to Top5.) What system will be used for ambulatory office scheduling once HAC is live?
UTMC will continue to schedule patient visits in the Misys Vision system. Within HAC there will be the ability to select scheduled patients via an appointment screen which is electronically populated by the Misys Vision system.
Any changes to an existing appointment will continue to be done in the Misys Vision system.
Back to Top6.) What system will physician billing be done in once HAC is live?
The University of Toledo Physicians (UTP) will continue to do all physician billing in the Misys Vision system.
Back to Top7.) What is the time frame for the HAC implementation?
The first office to go live with HAC in mid April 2010 will be South Toledo Internists (STI) which is located in the Glendale Medical Center. After successful implementation at STI, the implementation team will work with offices that are centrally located using a rolling time line until each office is live.
