1.) What is Banner ODS Self-Service?

Available through the myUT Portal, ODS Self Service is an easy-to-use query tool that will allow for quick querying of important Banner information. Self Service has pull-down menu’s that allow for users to select and filter pre-defined data in a fast and efficient environment. Queries developed may then be saved and/or exported to Microsoft Excel. No technical skills are required.

The Information Technology (IT) Department will implemented ODS Self Service in June, 2010.

3.) Who are the Data Custodians for each area?

A list of the current data custodians by general functional area is as follows:

• Admissions: Nancy Hintz
• Finance: Julie Graham
• Financial Aid: Debbie Knapp
• Human Resources: Sally Kwapich
• Payroll: Julianne Bejarano
• Student : Sharon Standifer
• Student Accounting: Jeffrey Bowman

4.) Will the ODS Self Service be available for all modules reporting?

Yes, the ODS Self Service stores information from all of the Banner modules (Finance, Human Resources, Student, and Financial Aid). Queries may be produced with data from any of these modules.

5.) Will I be able to access the ODS Self Service and run queries myself?

Yes, with appropriate data security access. Those individuals needing this capability will be able to access the ODS and generate queries. The ODS will contain data extracted from the Student, Financial, and Human Resource modules of Banner and department representatives who generate reports as part of their primary assignments in the administrative areas will have this ability.
