1.) Should I upgrade to Windows 7 or buy a new computer that comes with Windows 7?

Until the IT Department fully evaluates Windows 7 against all academic, administrative, and clinical applications software we are asking the UT user community to postpone upgrading to Windows 7 or buying new computers with Windows 7. Whenever there are major upgrades to any operating systems (Mac or Windows System) the IT Department thoroughly tests the new version with our existing applications software to make sure users continue to enjoy full functionality of all our applications software. In addition to testing the operating system for compatibility and functionality with all our applications software we also require vendors to certify the operating system against these applications software.

2.) When will the University upgrade to Windows 7?

Asis common with any new operating system, there is a period of time before current applications software are fully compatible with the new operating systems. However, the IT Department (and our vendors) are in the process of certifying that Windows 7 works with the current versions of our applications software including online systems. When this happens, the IT Department will make a campus announcement to the UT user community.
