2011 Annual Champion: Shannon Longenecker

As a biology student at UT, Shannon Longenecker actively volunteered for local organizations such as Nature's Nursery, UT's Perceptual Motor Development Program, Cherry Street Mission and various sports programs. She also led a campaign to raise funds for victims of human trafficking. Read more
Sarah Ritenour - January
After participating in local Relay for Life events, Sarah Ritenour co-chaired UT's event. She doubled participation from the previous year and raised more than $28,000. Read more
Stephen Urbanski - February
During his time as a student at UT, Stephen Urbanski walked for 18 hours to help find a cure for cancer, cleaned trash from Toledo highways and danced for muscular dystrophy. Read more
Michele Knox - March
Dr. Michele Knox has dedicated her life to preventing violence toward children, educating others through programs she created and by talking to the media and hosting child abuse conferences.
Tavis Glassman - April
For two years, Dr. Tavis Glassman lived among students in a dorm and created fun programs to educate his student neighbors about personal health and spark a dialogue with them. Read more
Jordan Maddocks - May
Jordan Maddocks dedicates his life to serving others through organizations like Circle K, Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, Alternate Spring Break, Cherry Street Mission and others.
Andrew Mathews - June
A cancer survivor, Andrew Mathews tells others that they do not need to be defined by an illness and demonstrates this by volunteering with Relay for Life, Push America and more.
Amanda Geletka - July
Amanda Geletka gives back to her community by volunteering with Mobile Meals, the American Red Cross, EPIC Toledo, Youth Leadership Toledo and other organizations.
Jacob Brokaw - August
An active member of Campus Crusade for Christ, Jacob Brokaw is inspired by his faith, going on mission trips to help Hurricane Katrina victims, helping families in need and more.
Cameron Streb - September
Cameron Streb spent a majority of his free time helping the Christian Appalachian Project's Workfest, Habitat for Humanity, Race for the Cure, Dance Marathon and Relay for Life.
Nancy Ngo - October
The aunt of a young cancer survivor, Nancy Ngo single-handedly raised more than $3,500 for the St. Baldrick's Foundation by organizing an event on campus where she had her head shaved.
James Nolan - December
After his brother passed away from leukemia, James Nolan went on a 100-mile bike ride to raise money for leukemia and also inspired the rest of his fraternity to join.
