Jeff Johnson Fellowship
Jeff Johnson Africana Studies Scholarship in Sustainable Development and Environmental
Justice
The Jeff Johnson Endowed Fellowship has two goals. First, it seeks to increase the awareness of African American students about career opportunities in environmental professions. African Americans disproportionately have environmental hazards in their communities and are less inclined to be on a track for rapidly expanding green careers. Second, the fellowship, available since 2011, provides financial support to such students for tuition, fees, and books. Fellows will have opportunities to work with Jeff on his media productions, particularly those associated with issues directly related to the environment. Jeff will also help open doors for students to be in position to assume key leadership positions related to the environment in the nonprofit, public, and private sector.
