Advising Information
When you begin your college career you will be assigned an advisor who can help you choose classes and assist with your career plans. If you're not sure which area of study you would like to pursue you can begin by taking classes required for all students in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Ifyou are not enrolled at UT or you are thinking of changing your major to communication you can call 419-530-2005 to schedule an appointment with a communication department advisor. The following links can also help you research and choose the classes right for you.
Graduation Requirements
Here's a quick summary of graduation requirements for a student studying communication
in UT's College of Arts and Science:
- You must complete---124 semester hours (a maximum of 43 hours of Communication courses)
- Earn at least a 2.0 GPA.
- At least 32 hours must be at the 3000/4000 level
- 64 hours must be at the 2000 level or higher.
- You may earn a total of 24 of the 127 hours may by passing CLEP exams.
- Additional AP (Advanced Placement) may be earned.
Graduation Checksheet
The primary advising question most students have each semester is "What courses should I take?" This checksheet should help, it provides you with a listing of required courses so you can keep track of them on your own and keep a record of courses and requirements you've completed.
