The Ability Center of Greater Toledo and The University of Toledo announced the Ability Center gift of $1.9 million dollars on November 14, 2001.
This gift allows for the creation of an innovative partnership leading to the development of the first B.A. Program in Disability Studies in a liberal arts college in the United States (The University of Toledo College of Arts & Sciences). The minor in Disability Studies was approved by the Faculty Senate on April 2, 2002. The concentration in the Law and Social Thought Program was approved in early 2004.
The Ability Center also gave the University of Toledo Carlson Library more than 2000 books and periodicals on disability issues in February 2002.
The Ability Center of Greater Toledo is a nationally recognized non-profit independent living center with a mission to assist people with disabilities to live, work and socialize in the community.
The Ability Center has provided all of the photographs on the Disability Studies Website. A big Thank You from the University
of Toledo and keep Camp Cricket going strong.
The Ability Center has faithfully served the Toledo community for more than 80 years!
