The BA in a Foreign Language

Students fulfill all requirements for the BA in the College of Arts and Sciences, earning a minimum of 124 credit hours. Students complete the Applied French, Applied German, or Business Spanish major, which consists of 33-34 hours of course work in the language; these hours include business courses in the language as well as composition, conversation, literature, and culture course requirements.

Program in French: Applied French Major

FREN 4010 - 3 hours - Syntax and Stylistics I
FREN 4020 - 4 hours - Syntax and Stylistics II (WAC)

Literature course 3 hours
FREN 3220 - 3 hours - Survey of French Literature II or any other 3000/4000-level literature course

Culture and civilization courses 6 hours
Choose two of the following:
FREN 3410 - 3 hours - Survey of French Civilization I
FREN 3420 - 3 hours - Survey of French & Francophone Civilization II
FREN 4200 - 3 hours - Contemporary French & Francophone Civilization
FREN 4980 - 3 hours - Special Topics (as appropriate)

Applied course work (professional preparation) 6 hours
