Master of Public Administration
The Master of Public Administration (MPA) is a professional degree for those pursuing
administrative careers in government and non-profit organizations. The mission of
the MPA program is to promote professional excellence in local and state administration
in the public and non-profit sector, through teaching, research, and service.
The MPA is offered through the Department of Political Science and Public Administration.
The program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs
and Administration (NASPAA), and serves part-time, mid-career, as well as full-time
students. Through a focus on administration and policy at the sub-national level,
the program strives to provide students, officials, and the larger community with
an improved understanding of issues facing state and local public and non-profit agencies.
The department also offers interdisciplinary certificate programs in health care,
municipal administration and management of non-profit organizations. Other areas of
specialization may be developed through the selection of elective courses in political
science and other departments.
