Special AEC Programs

"Energize your Medical Education" EME

EME is a voluntary program that focuses on underrepresented and nontraditional students with the purpose to foster a supportive community of peers and provide a strong on-going academic support network that also reflects and reinforces an environment of acceptance of all forms of diversity. Students are contacted before their first year of medical school about being involved.

Students in this program will be asked to:
  1. Attend a pre-matriculation workshop
  2. Meet with the academic counselor at least one time each system class.
  3. Attend pre-arranged EME group activities
Benefits

The AEC will host several social events for the EME students along with providing each student a USMLE First Aid Step 1 book. The biggest benefit is the academic, emotional, and social support that is provided by the AEC.

Rocket Launch

The AEC sponsors the Rocket Launch program. This program connects 1st year medical students with a 2nd year medical student as a mentor who can help them navigate the 1st year of medical school. Information about this program and how to sign up will be provided at orientation.
