Resident Salary and Benefits

Annual Book Allowance/AAP Membership/PREP Subscription

Up to $150 per year is available for book purchases.  The program also covers costs for AAP membership, including subscriptions to PREP and the journal Pediatrics. 

Salaries (updated for 7/1/13):

PL-1: $48,420

PL-2: $50,114

PL-3: $51,825

Computer Services
Ready access (no charge) to Internet, MedLine and institutional network.

Exercise Facility
For a fee, use of the on-campus fitness center and swimming pool, for self and family.

Candidate membership in the American Academy of Pediatrics including annual subscription to Pediatrics. Annual subscription to PREP (Pediatric Review and Education Program), yearly American Board of Pediatrics In-Service Exam, and Biannual PALS course/recertification.

Health Insurance
Enrollment in health insurance, optical and dental insurance programs is available for the Resident and eligible dependents.

Life Insurance
$10,000 term life insurance, $10,000 accidental Death and Dismemberment paid by UT. Optional dependent life insurance is available.

Residents are enrolled in the State Teacher's Retirement System (STRS)

All meals will be charged at a discount rate. Meal tickets are provided for night call.

Sick Leave
15 days allowed annually, with pay.

Up to $600 annually for a scientific meeting (up to 3 days meeting time for a PL-2, and 5 days for a PL-3).

Tuition Reimbursement
College of Graduate Studies Tuition Waived

3 weeks: PL-1
4 weeks: All other Residents
