Toledo
Toledo, Ohio, located at the mouth of the Maumee River on the southwestern
edge of Lake Erie, has become known to many as the home of the famous "JEEP", of the Toledo Mud Hens, and of the "Hungarian
Hot Dog"; sold at Tony Packo's Restaurant and so often dreamed of by Corporal Klinger in
"MASH." However, Toledo is much more.
Toledo is a city of over 350,000 that became the " Glass Capital of the World" because of its
glass manufacturing base. It also has a large industrial complex in support of the automotive industry and is home to several
Fortune 500
companies.
Culture
Recreation
Toledo enjoys its location on
the Maumee River and Lake Erie, with many opportunities for boating, swimming and fishing. A weekly "Rally By The River" highlighted
with music
and the arts occurs from May to September. There is also The Toledo Zoo,
rated one of the nation's best.
The city has an extensive metropark system for a picnic in the afternoon, a wooded walk, or cross country skiing. Other attractions
include top
notch golf courses, harness racing, Triple A baseball with the Toledo Mud
Hens; (farm team for the Detroit Tigers), and hockey with The Toledo Walleye. The annual Jamie Farr Kroger Classic LPGA golf
tournement is held just outside of Toledo every July, and Toledo's famous Inverness Club has hosted recent PGA and Senior
PGA Championships.

Toledo has excellent private, parochial and public school systems. The University of Toledo, Bowling Green State University
