This section is staffed 7:30 am to 7:30 pm, Monday-Friday and 6 hours on Saturdays. Off hours are covered by an on-call team for emergencies. This section is located on the sixth floor of the Hospital along with the Peripheral Vascular Lab.

This technology images the internal structures of the human body utilizing sound waves. By sending high frequency sound waves through the skin which sends back echoes, an image is produced. Exam times vary from 15 to 60 minutes.

Ultrasound has become the premier technology for fetal (pregnancy) scans, gallbladders, kidney scans, peripheral vessels, and breast (cysts), among others. Doppler ultrasound allows the radiologist to evaluate the function of the patient's carotid arteries and the risk of developing stroke or cerebral vascular disease.
