We know when you choose a residency program the location in which you will be training is important. The city of Toledo and the surrounding communities in northwest Ohio have plenty to offer.
Toledo is the fourth largest city in Ohio and one of the top 60 metropolitan areas
in the nation, with a metropolitan population of approximately 1,100,000 residents.
There are excellent public and parochial schools and recreational and cultural facilities.
Boating and fishing on Lake Erie is a major recreational resource. Professional and
collegiate athletic programs are abundant. Toledo also has one of the finest art museums
in the world as well as an outstanding zoo and many cultural attractions including
opera, symphony, theater and the arts. There is an extensive system of Metro parks.
The city of Toledo is the cultural and trade center of Northwest Ohio. It is located
just south of the Michigan border. Toledo has long been a manufacturing community
known as the "Glass Capital of the World". The city has strong ties to the glass and
automotive industries. Toledo is headquarters for five Fortune 500 corporations and
is home of the world famous "Jeep", now a part of the Chrysler Corporation.
Getting around Toledo is easy. In fact, it is possible to drive to just about anywhere
in the Greater Toledo area in 25 minutes. Toledo Express Airport provides direct and
connecting service to such major cities as Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver,
Detroit, Miami, New York, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Washington, DC, and many more. The
cities of Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan are less than an hour’s drive away.
