LEC Education
Educational Programs and Classes at the LEC
Fulfilling the education part of our mission, the Lake Erie Center:
- Is home to >15 resident full-time year-round graduate students and hosts about a dozen others during the field season.
- Manages a robust NSF GK-12 program that partners advanced graduate students with local high school teachers and students.
- Offers a popular monthly public lecture series.
- Hosts a family-friendly Naturalist Program, featuring interactive talks and outings by local nature experts.
- Hosts advanced undergraduate and graduate-level courses, including intensive 1-week summer courses.
- Participates in environmental science education mentoring and shadowing programs.
- Is the meeting place for numerous environmental groups.
- Offers a summer science camp for 4th and 5th grade students.
