Research Resources

The University of Toledo has resources to support your research efforts.
Review the variety of the resources and information below.
| Provides leadership and guidance in all aspects of external sponsorship of programs and research. | |
| Office of Undergraduate Research |
Studies have shown that incorporating experiential learning into the undergraduate academic journey can have very positive ramifications as the students test and experience their chosen professions by becoming immersed in research. UT has many different research programs and opportunities funded through the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR-UT) and others. Research is an integral part of every discipline and UT faculty have been supportive of engaging undergraduate students in their research programs. |
| University Policies |
The University of Toledo policy web site is a compilation of relevant policy, operational procedures and governing documents of The University of Toledo. The purpose of the policy web site is to ensure faculty, staff, and students have ready access to the policies. |
| Head shot photo | We ask that you get a professional photo/head shot taken with UT photographer. Call UT Marketing and Communications, Laurie Flowers at 419.530.2002, to schedule an appointment. |
| Writing Center | The Writing Center provides one-to-one assistance to all members of the academic community who want to discuss and improve their writing. As the core of the Writing Across the Curriculum Program, the Writing Center staff also provides the necessary resources which enable faculty to use writing as a means of learning in their content areas. By providing these consulting services to students and faculty, the Writing Center provides key initiatives for improving undergraduate and graduate education. |
| InfoEd SPINPlus Global Suite | The University of Toledo subscribes to the InfoEd SPINPlus Global Suite research funding database. SPIN Global Suite is comprised of SPIN, the funding database (with over 40,000 opportunities from more than 10,000 global sponsors); GENIUS, a central expertise database; and SMARTS, the e-mail notification system.
|
| JHCEHSHS Research Consultation Center / General Research Resources | The Research Consultation Center is designed to provide students and faculty in the Judith Herb College of Education, Health Science and Human Services with tools to aid in understanding, conducting, publishing funding and fostering creative research through links to useful web sites, articles and library guides. |
| Expert Database | The University of Toledo Expertise Database (UTED) is a searchable electronic database that provides information regarding the research expertise, interests and/or skill sets of colleagues within UT. UTED was developed as a collaboration of the Jacobson Center for Clinical & Translational Research, Information Technology, and the Center for Creative Instruction to facilitate development of partnerships and interdisciplinary collaboration among our scientific community. It will therefore also provide a mechanism to identify appropriate individuals within UT for potential interactions with business, industry, government, and media representatives. |
| UT's Areas of Research Excellence | The University Strategic Plan notes that UT will be highly distinguished and ranked internationally as a leader in research and intellectual property transfer focusing on seven (7) strategically selected thematic areas across multiple academic units. |
| University of Toledo Press |
The mission of the University of Toledo Press is to publish professional quality books
with relevance to general readers in Toledo, Northwest Ohio, and the Western Lake
Erie region. The UT Press will read and consider for publication manuscripts that
investigate, highlight, and celebrate the unique identity of our region’s communities,
institutions, and individuals. It will consider scholarly and general nonfiction,
fiction, photography or poetry manuscripts. It will also consider manuscripts by writers
with a biographical connection to the region. |
| Safety and Health |
The mission of the Safety and Health Department is to develop, implement and monitor programs of environmental and occupational safety and health as necessary to protect the health and safety of faculty, staff, students and campus visitors, and to provide compliance with applicable regulations. |
| General Labratory Safety |
Chemical Hygiene Plan, Lab Safety Self-Assessment Tools and Training and HAZARDOUS Chemical Standard Operating Procedures |
| University Research Awards and Fellowships |
The annual internal grant programs administered by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs support the diverse range of faculty research and scholarship at UT. We hope that full-time, tenured and tenure-track faculty from all disciplines will find a program that could help advance their scholarly efforts. Guidance to these programs and evaluation of proposals for some of the competitions is provided by the University Research Council. |
