College of Pharmacy Fall Graduation, Thursday, December 10, 2009
The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy, a practitioner's school, is known for its century-long tradition of preparing pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists to care for patients and meet the demands of the industry. The College of Pharmacy continues to build upon this legacy with "The Future of Pharmacy," a campaign that celebrates the innovations and progress of the college and situates the college as a leader in pharmacy education.
In Fall 2010, The College of Pharmacy will expand to the health science campus, taking a portion of its students and faculty to a state of the art new building. The new facility, in conjunction with Wolfe Hall, will accommodate the college’s growing student enrollment, which has increased from 800 to over 1,500 over the past eight years.
The building will be constructed between the Block Science Building and the Health Education Building, a site chosen for its central location on the campus and its proximity to classrooms, clinics, Mulford Library and the Medical Center. The ceremonial ground breaking was held on Friday, September 11, 2009 at the construction site, and many alumni, supporters and friends attended.
The expansion to the health science campus will lead to more research collaborations among students and faculty and enhance current collaborations in the fields of cancer and diabetes treatment, immunology and transplantation, and neurodegenerative disorders. Along with the expansion, the college is planning new research initiatives, an enrollment increase and many exciting changes that will complement the college's success on the main campus and health science campus.
The University of Toledo has committed to funding the $25 million construction project. In turn, the College of Pharmacy is embarking upon a transformational capital campaign to fund major initiatives associated with the expansion to the health science campus. Scholarships, equipment and research enhancements will be funded through the capital campaign which is already underway. The College of Pharmacy welcomes alumni and friends to take part in our campaign for The Future of Pharmacy.
